ABSTRACT
The article discusses the acquisition of photo sharing app Instagram by Facebook in the amount of one billion U.S. dollars or 630 million British pounds in cash and stock, the largest ever investment made by the social network. Currently, Instagram has over 30 million users uploading more than five million pictures daily. According to the initial public offering (IPO) filing of Facebook, the acquisition is expected to provide them the ability to monetise on the mobile offer.
