ABSTRACT
The article discusses the Common Core State Standards for mathematics, and the need for district and school leaders to address concerns ranging from curriculum adoption to teacher professional development for its full implementation. The authors of the Common Core emphasize that it is focused as it has less standards compared to existing state standards and mathematically coherent as it considers how K-12 mathematics conceptual issues develop from grade to grade.
