The article profiles jazz bassist, composer, and vocalist Esperanza Spalding, who won a Grammy Award in 2011 for Best New Artist. Her musical releases include "Chamber Music Society" and "Radio Music Society." The author comments on Spalding's promotion of environmentally-friendly fashion and her musical collaborations.
