The article discusses the gun laws in the U.S. in the aftermath of the shooting deaths of several children and adults at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut in December 2012, focusing on an analysis of gun ownership and gun homicide statistics in the U.S., Canada, and Australia. Several mass shootings between 1984 and 2012 are mentioned, including Anders Behring Breivik's alleged murder of 69 people in Utoya, Norway. It states that America has the highest gun homicide rate of all developed countries.
