ABSTRACT
The article reports that majority of the eight accountable-care organizations (ACO) in Detroit, Michigan under contract with the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services are on the right track to reduce costs or improved quality for the patient populations under their care. Some goals of the ACOs include building the information technology infrastructure and hiring staff. An overview of the risk-based pioneer model in which Michigan Pioneer operates is provided.
