ABSTRACT
The article discusses the debate on gun control in the United States following the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut in 2012, with a focus on the normalcy of gun violence in African American communities. The author offers his opinion that African Americans must become involved in efforts to increase gun control in order to make their communities safer.
