ABSTRACT
There is a strong belief among Polish people that Poland's energy security is determined to a large extend by foreign countries' activities, especially Russia, which is the biggest global energy exporter, and Germany, which remains one of the biggest energy importers in the world. In the article, the opportunities and risks for Poland resulting from the German nuclear phase-out and Russia's expansive energy policy are examined. The author concludes that Poland's energy security is rather dependent on Poland's own efforts to liberalize and diversify its energy market, than on other countries' policies, which may not fully concur with Poland's energy interests.
