The article offers information on the Aemilia Ars Cooperative of Lace and Embroidery, an organization founded in Bologna, Italy, in 1898. Particular focus is given to how the organization was inspired by the English Arts and Crafts Movement. Details relating to how the organization provided local women with a means of earning a modest income from handwork are also discussed.
