ABSTRACT
After criticism, Senator Lloyd Bentsen, new chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, quickly disbanded his fledgling breakfast fraternity for lobbyists, called the Chairman's Council. Participating lobbyists were to pay $10,000 to Bentsen's re-election campaign in exchange for monthly breakfast discussions on trade & taxation. The practice is neither illegal nor unique, but Bentsen has called it a mistake.
