ABSTRACT
The article discusses the education approach launched by Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber in 2011 that includes the abolition of the K-12 schools superintendent, an elected position, and the appointment of Rudy Crew, former New York City and Miami schools chief, as chief education officer of Oregon. Under the education overhaul, Oregon students will have to meet academic milestones from preschool to college. Governor Kitzhaber now heads the new Oregon Education Investment Board (OEIB).
