Is there a complete theory of the universe?

The author focuses on a complete theory of the universe. He notes that he differs from his scientific colleagues regarding his perception of such theory. He adds that he is inspired by a principle from philosopher Gottfried Wilhelm that every property in the universe requires a reasonable explanation based on the laws of nature. He states that the notion that laws need to evolve to be explained contradicts a common idea that the laws of physics are representations of timeless truths.

In this paper, we study the holographic dark energy model proposed by Li from the statefinder viewpoint. We plot the evolutionary trajectories of the model with c = 1 in the statefinder parameter-planes. The statefinder diagrams characterize the properties of the holographic dark energy and show...

We propose the relation MΛ ~ (MPMU)½ where MΛ, MP and MU denote the mass scale associated with the cosmological constant, the gravitational interaction, and the size of the universe respectively. The meaning of the phrase "the size of the universe" is discussed in the text.

In a recent paper by B. Edgar and M. P. Ramos the method using invariant operators to obtain the type O pure radiation class of metrics was generalized to type N pure radiation solutions. In this work we further generalize the method in determining type O pure radiation metrics with cosmological...

Astrophysical bounds on the cosmological constant are examined for spherically symmetric bodies. Similar limits emerge from the hydrostatical and gravitational equilibrium and the validity of the Newtonian limit. The methods in use seem to be disjoint from the basic principles, however they have...

The article discusses the meaning of the word kosmos and what it means for society today. It states that kosmos is an ancient Greek word which means both order and beauty. Pythagoras is cited as being the first to use it to refer to the universe, because he saw that it was both ordered and...

A class of solutions for phantom field corresponding to a generalized k-essence Lagrangian has been presented, employing a simple method which provides the scope to explore many such. All the solutions having dynamical state parameter are found to touch the magic line w = -1 asymptotically. The...

A time-dependent phenomenological model of Λ, viz. $\dot{\Lambda} \sim H^{3}$, is selected to investigate the Λ-CDM cosmology. The time-dependent form of the equation-of-state parameter ω is derived and it has been possible to obtain the sought-for flip of sign of the deceleration...
