ABSTRACT
This paper proposes a fuzzy multi -criteria decision making method for disaster risk analysis. It considers the application of "a-cut" and "fuzzy arithmetic operations" to rank the fuzzy numbers describing linguistic variables. This article studies the use of variable fuzzy sets and is applied to study disaster area of Nagapattinam district under north- east monsoon rainfall. The relative and synthetic disaster degree is obtained for the places under study.
