ABSTRACT
The article presents information on the implementation of massive open online courses (MOOC) in the U.S. A faculty committee at Amherst College rejected the edX MOOC consortium and decided to explore other online teaching schemes. The success rates of students at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) who did and did not have in-person support was examined. The MOOC platform will be used by the University of Kentucky in assisting preparations for college-level courses of admitted students.
