University training is crucial to the successful professional and worldly realization of young people. In this light its quality is the subject of enhanced attention on the part of society. Among the critical factors, which impact the quality of university training, is the quality of the school training product. In this paper we touch on several key indicators presenting the results of Bulgarian students in various realms of knowledge, which has a direct impact on the performance and quality of university education Unfortunately, the fact laid out in this study unveil troublesome trends. Unsatisfactory results manifest themselves in reading, mathematics, and natural sciences, ineffective employment of ICT, insufficient motivation for teachers and students. In this respect, we come to the conclusion that under the circumstances at the entrance of university training, one cannot expect high quality at its exit.
