ABSTRACT
Host nation Kuwait pledged $500 mil and the U.S. promised $380 mil at a Kuwait City humanitarian fundraising confab Wed. With contributions from other nations, the total aid package to help the millions of Syrians suffering from the effects of their nation's nearly 3-year-old civil war is $2.4 bil. "The fighting has set Syria back by years, even decades," UN Sec'y-General Ban Ki-moon said. The organization wants $6.5 bil this year to help Syrians affected by the war.
