Focuses on Den Norske Stats Oljeslskap's (Statoil) use of a seismic acquisition system called SUMIC that employs seabed sensors designed to improve the predictability of the composition of offshore oil prospects. Use of implanted sensors consisting of hydrophone and multi-component geophone rods that are embedded in the seafloor by remotely operated vehicles; Advantages over conventional marine seismic methods.
