ABSTRACT
This article presents photographs of the Gulf conflict between United States and Iraq in 2003. Operation Iraqi Freedom of the United States army brought conflagration to Iraq. Desert warfare and the threat of chemical attack add gas mask and protective clothing to the infantryman's heavy packs and futuristic firearms. Already troops on both sides have died in the battle for Baghdad, Iraqis have surrendered and US soldiers taken captive, to be paraded by their captors before the TV cameras. For the Iraqi people caught up in the coalition forces advance, their future now depends on a bloody battle which will be played out in the capital between allied forces and troops loyal to Saddam Hussein.
