ABSTRACT
This article focuses on the campaign-finance reform bill authored by U.S. Senators John McCain and Russell Feingold. The article considers U.S. President Bill Clinton's endorsement of the bill and examines the reasons behind it. McCain's bill aims to reduce the amount of money spent in politics and level the playing field on which challengers meet incumbents. Among the Republicans, only Fred Thompson has joined in McCain's cause. U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell claims that the bill is purely Democratic.
