ABSTRACT
In this article the authors reflect on their experience of attending a 2014 cultural safety and respect workshop in Canberra, Australia which was hosted by the Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives. In the article they offer their opinions on health disparities and racism seen by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in Australia and on the need for cultural awareness and sensitivity among medical professionals in Australia.
