ABSTRACT
The article explores the historical contributions of the November 1840 and April 1841 silver coins dug by Captain Stephen Grindle in the harbor of Castine, Maine. It features the 1652 legendary Castine Hoard coins, paper money and its variety of coin designs in 1863. It also emphasizes on the influences of historical coinage designs towards the development of coin designs in the country.
