This article presents a research guide to the life and works of author Doris Lessing. Born Doris May Tayler on October 22, 1919, in Kermanshah, Persia; Family moves to Southern Rhodesia in 1924; Publishes first novel in 1950 titled "The Grass is Singing;" Best known for writing "The Golden Notebook;" Recognized as a social realist writer; Wins the W.H. Smith Award for her novel 'The Good Terrorist;" Some of her works include "Between Men," "The Summer Before the Dark," and "The Fifth Child."
