ABSTRACT
This article presents a research guide to the biography of Hungarian dramatist Ferenc Molnár. Born January 12, 1878 in Budapest, Hungary, Molnár was the son of Doctor Mórie Neumann and Josefa Wallfisch. He studied law in Budapest. He published his first novel in 1901 while his first play opened the next year. He worked as a journalist and won awards as a war correspondent on the Galician Front. From 1917-1922, he released a new play each year, which were performed, as well as collections of essays, feuilletons and play translations. He was married three times and had a long affair with Wanda Bartrha until her suicide in 1947. Bartha's suicide plunged Molnár into depression until his death on April 1, 1952 in New York City.
