ABSTRACT
Chapter 4 of the book "Forms in Modernism: The Unity of Typography, Architecture & the Design Arts 1920s-1970s" is presented. The main focus of the chapter is the introduction of Art Deco elements in skyscrapers of the 1930s in the U.S. Façades of skyscrapers and interiors of movie palaces in the country were reportedly inspired by Art Deco. The use of Art Deco was the response of the U.S. to European modernism. One of the buildings constructed during that time is the Empire State Building in New York City.
