ABSTRACT
Chapter 3 of the book "The Third Epidemic: Repercussions of the Fear of AIDS" is presented. It presents information on AIDS tests or HIV tests. These tests are designed to determine whether or not an HIV infection occurs. If an infection occurs, the person tested is seropositive and can infect others while seronegative is the term used for those who are tested negative from infection. HIV antibody tests aim to detect and screen donated blood which are infected by the virus and stop it from being transferred during blood transfusions.
