ABSTRACT
Chapter 13 of the book "Philosophical Perspectives on the "War on Terrorism"" is presented. It discusses the problems of Russia and Chechnya and examines why the perils of war and conflicts during the Cold War persist today. The author surveys history and learns that the Chechens have been punished for attempting to assert their independence for years. He suggests that countries work out a way to articulate their national identity while sharing political structures and economies.
