ABSTRACT
Chapter 2 the book "State Terrorism and the United States: From Counterinsurgency to the War on Terrorism" is presented. The chapter focuses on the role played by Guatemala in committing state terror. Evidence is presented that government campaigns of a physical and psychological nature designed to coerce victims are committed. Washington's support for the Guatemalan government and the form which this support took are noted.
