Country Report
The article presents information on economic condition of Caribbean countries. President of Dominican Republic, Leonel Fernandez has inherited a difficult legacy when he took office in August. He appears to be winning the battle to stabilize the Dominican Republic's floundering economy having obtained Paris Club approval and probably secured the resumption of its International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan agreement. All indications suggest that the rescheduling of Paris Club debt repayments should soon receive the go-ahead and while nothing is ever certain, an IMF agreement looks set to follow.
