ABSTRACT
The article focuses on political and economic risks that are present in Saudi Arabia. Saudi Arabia's alliance with the U.S. continues to face risks, but on balance one sees the relationship as much strengthened since the re-election of U.S. President George W. Bush last year. Meanwhile, officials are calling for more foreign direct investment, especially in the form of joint ventures with the government. There was a more-than-800% rise in investment licenses issued in Q105, but it is not clear what proportion of these licenses will translate into completed projects.
