ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the importance of communication as the key to improve the lives of the people. He stresses the statement the Communication for Social Change Consortium, an international non-profit organization, citing that development efforts are more sustainable and effective when people who are most affected by social inequity have the confidence and abilities to access, manage and control the processes, tools and content of communication. He believes that information and knowledge are important for people to respond successfully and adequately to the opportunities of political, social, economic and cultural change. He pointed out that in spite of people's connection to modern telecommunications, they can still communicate and learn best when they act together.
