Summarizing With Drawings: A Reading-Comprehension Strategy

The author reflects on her reading comprehension strategy for her students in Connecticut. She decided to implement a new strategy in her classroom to motivate the students and engage them in reading process, while at the same time improving their comprehension. Her strategy was to ask students to read an article and then draw pictures summarizing the main ideas of what they had read.
