E-education -- Is it truly a global phenomenon? Should it be?

The author reflects upon E-education: the ability of teachers and students to create learning environments via the Internet and other technologies. Some of the problems posed by E-learning includes access to Internet. While it is acknowledged that Internet access is limited in developing countries, even the United States faces connectivity issues in more rural and low income areas. The reason E-education is globally important is that it raises the education standards for students who could not otherwise gain access to expertise.
