The author discusses why medical conferences are essential despite their environmental impact. He suggests that eliminating conferences will not have a noticeable impact on the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere and would not serve as a viable example of environmental behavior to the public. He stresses the important of face-to-face communication with colleagues at conferences and suggests medical conferences be reorganized.
