ABSTRACT
The author reflects on the moral obligation of European allies to pay back the debts incurred to carry out the war. These debts can only be paid in currencies acceptable in both countries which means that the debtor can pay in gold or goods and services. According to the author, because of the economic and financial conditions of these countries there is no moral obligation for them to pay. The author adds that attempts to make the U.S. demand payment is unjust and hinder international relations.
