ABSTRACT
The author discusses the 1980 U.S. presidential elections and the results of the primaries. Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan are said to be the respective candidates by the Democratic and Republican parties for the presidency in 1980. According to the author, the task in the weeks and months ahead is how to turn the presidential campaign into the important public argument over national goals and policies that it ought to be. A discussion on the differences between the two candidates is presented including their differing foreign policy priorities.
