ABSTRACT
On this short essay, we will question whether there is any practical difference today between a Social Democratic government and Hayek's neoliberal view of the state. For that, we will go through a review of Hayek's thought on certain aspects of the functions of the state. After, we will take shortly on Keynesian doctrine and, taking into account the current European financial crisis, we would analyse what proposal both chains of thought propose.
