ABSTRACT
An essay is presented about the political situation in Italy as of 2012. Topics include the disillusionment of Italian citizens with their choice of candidates, corruption scandals and the frequent restructuring of political parties despite pressing economic concerns. Because the introduction of municipal elections has allowed new politicians to appear at a local level, the author anticipates some sort of political upheaval with the national ballot of 2013.
