ABSTRACT
The article presents an interview with U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad regarding the elections in Iraq on December 15, 2005 and the declining support of the U.S. people for the U.S. war on Iraq as of December 3, 2005. He says that it is important that the U.S. meets its objective of a prosperous and democratic Iraq. He believes that Sunnis insurgents will participate in the upcoming elections. Khalilzad cites two constitutional changes that will take place after the elections. Shiite and Kurdish politicians are committed to form a federal system that fairly distributes Iraqi oil revenues according to Khalilzad. The ambassador worries that Iraqi political factions and their armed militias infiltrate Iraqi government institutions.
