ABSTRACT
The article presents a brief interview with U.S. Ambassador to Iraq Zalmay Khalilzad. The ambassador suggests that Iraqis need to be able to build a level of cooperation between moderate Sunni, Shia, and Kurd populations in order to stop the extremist sectarian violence. Khalilzad also discusses the Iraqi National Police, who are accused of participating in violent extremist acts. Khalilzad notes that Iraq exists surrounded by tensions between sects of religion, race, and culture.
