ABSTRACT
This article presents literary criticism of the novel "Mara and Dann," by Doris Lessing, examining its engagement with African postcolonial themes, the genre blurring between fairy tale and contemporary fiction, and the use of narrative devices as a vehicle for those themes. The use of a "narrative kaleidoscope" is particularly examined in-depth. It is suggested that the story is essentially a post-colonial parable.
