ABSTRACT
The author claims that the Filipino people have become irrelevant to the process of choosing a political party's standard-bearer in national elections in the Philippines. He cites President Benigno Aquino III's appointment of Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas as the Liberal Party's presidential candidate in 2016 and Vice President Jejomar Binay's announcement of running for president for the opposition as examples. He also talks about corruption issues.
