ABSTRACT
In this article, the authors discuss the benchmark of the quality of medical care in the U.S. They raise questions concerning the overemphasis of statistical comparisons over a country and choose individual smaller countries with more homogenous populations. They point out that information on health from states, provinces, regions, and countries are beneficial in determining the areas in need of health improvement.
