ABSTRACT
The authors express their opinion regarding the use of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) antiretroviral drugs for HIV prevention in the U.S. They discusses the Center for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) recommendation to healthcare providers to prescribe PrEP, the guidelines for recommended PrEP patients, and provide details related to PrEP research studies. The use of condoms as HIV prevention, rate of HIV diagnoses in the U.S., and demographics of HIV infection are discussed.
