ABSTRACT
An encyclopedia entry for the federal Republic of Greece is presented. Greece is located in Southern Europe, bordering the Aegean Sea, Ionian Sea and the Mediterranean Sea, between Albania and Turkey. Its climate is temperate. The estimated population of Greece in July 2006 was 10,688,058. As of March 7, 2004, the head of the country was President Karolos Papoulias. This entry also includes information on the country's economy, government structure, diplomatic relations and modern history.
