ABSTRACT
Information on the "European Court of Human Rights," is presented. The Court accepts a case only when national remedies are not possible and does not have independent powers of enforcement. The Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, France, is an adjunct of the Council of Europe and is unrelated to the Court of Justice (ECJ) in Luxembourg. The Court's jurisdiction is restricted to states which have signed up to the European Convention on Human Rights.
